My work typically features three main components; elements of aesthetics, introspection, and pop surrealism. I combine these elements to articulate a sense of “insight” - the idea that there is more to see than simply a person’s surface level. Beauty, fashion and aesthetics make up the overlying subject matter; showing the human form, what we wear and how we present ourselves. With today’s social media, millions of us become models in a sense by aiming to present ourselves to the world in what we feel is the most ideal way possible. As a result, this generation views each other at face value even more readily than before. I then offer an introspective view of the subject of what could be beyond face value. Since we do not fully know what resides beyond our optical front so I abstract this introspective view by using pop surrealism ingredients which include areas of vivid color, distorted figures and graphic lines to articulate emotion.
